| · | Hypnosis - To understand hypnosis, it is helpful to know about the conscious and subconscious mind. The conscious mind is the thinking, analytical part of the mind that tends to be very active when you are awake. The subconscious mind is the part of the mind that controls habits, memories, emotions and physiological processes. Hypnosis is a therapy that works with subconscious processes which are more accessible when a person is hypnotised. This means that habits, behaviours and emotions can sometimes be more easily changed when a person is under hypnosis. It appears to work most efficiently when used in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches like CBT and ACT. |
